INDEPENDENT THREADS is very pleased to announce the creation of the world’s first, monthly subscription T-Shirt Club that recognizes, honors, promotes and supports the best comic book retail stores from around the world. THE COMIC SHOP SHIRT CLUB, as it is known, has now officially launched as a KICKSTARTER campaign that will run through February 17th.
Independent Threads founder and creator of THE COMIC SHOP SHIRT CLUB, Erik Enervold had this to say, “We love comic books, the creators, the industry and especially the direct market retailers who bring us the colorful characters and amazing stories that we all enjoy every week. THE COMIC SHOP SHIRT CLUB is our chance to highlight these great independent businesses who work tirelessly to support the industry that we all love and to help spread their name out into the world. And, hopefully, we can promote the comic industry a bit while we’re at it.”
Each and every month THE COMIC SHOP SHIRT CLUB members will receive a high-quality, limited-edition, screen-printed T-Shirt in the size of their choice and a Matching Diecut Vinyl Decal from the “FEATURED COMIC SHOP of the MONTH” along with an informational postcard detailing the shop, its staff and the store’s unique history in their local communities. These shirts all feature actual, brick-and-mortar, comic book shops that are currently in operation somewhere in the world and the company will work directly with each individual store to create their unique design including their choices of shirt and ink colors. After that month’s shirts have shipped, that shop’s design is retired and will not be available for purchase from the club again.
Additionally, members will often receive extra “goodies” in their monthly shipments including special offers and coupons from the featured stores and other promotional items, preview comics, premiums and exclusives from supporting comic book industry partners and sponsors. People who join the club during the initial Kickstarter campaign will be considered “Founding Members” of the club and will also enjoy some exclusive items only available before the first month’s packages go out.
After the Kickstarter campaign ends, the first comic shop to be featured will be the popular RUPP’S COMICS of Fremont, Ohio with the inaugural month’s shirts shipping to members in March. Month two in April will see the great Chicago area, AMAZING FANTASY BOOKS & COMICS stores featured. In May the club will highlight the well-known, award-winning Glendale, Arizona shop - JESSE JAMES COMICS and month four will feature the unique APOTHEOSIS COMICS & LOUNGE in St. Louis, Missouri.
Membership in THE COMIC SHOP SHIRT CLUB is only $24 per month when paid monthly and less when choosing one of the THREE, SIX, NINE or TWELVE month pre-paid options. Membership costs includes FREE Shipping for continental US addresses and a modest Shipping Fee for Canadian and International customers. Members can chose their shirt size from Adult X-SMALL to 5XL with Women’s and Youth size shirts also available. There is a $2.00 upcharge for 2XL-5XL sizes.
